You probably already know that Spotify is one of the biggest music streaming services. But have you ever wondered which songs are currently topping the charts? If so, you’re in luck. We’ve rounded up a list of the top songs to watch in the coming months.
Billie Eilish
Billie Eilish is one of the most successful artists of the last couple of decades. At just 18 years old, she has a number of songs in the top 40. Her latest album, Happier Than Ever, is likely to be her biggest yet. It also boasts a song that doesn’t make the cut.
The “Bad Guy” is her most popular track. It was originally written for a band at her high school. Although it sounds like an adolescent girl rolling her eyes, the lyrics are about a pedestrian signal in Sydney.
The “B–es Broken Hearts” song is a little lighter, with a hint of R&B influence. It’s a sweet love song with a little bit of drama. A twangy guitar, pitchy cackle, and Eilish’s unmistakable voice combine for a tune that’s just as catchy as it is moving.
There are a few other hits from the singer. She’s got one of the most popular songs of all time, and she’s collaborating with Khalid on the catchy “Lovely”. Despite her success, Eilish hasn’t been on the map quite as much as she could have been, and this could be her downfall. But that doesn’t mean she’s not a talented musician.
In honor of her emergence, Spotify is launching a Billie Eilish playlist. As of this writing, it includes five of her hits. And that’s not a bad start. If you’re into the pop genre, you’ll likely enjoy it. And the most important thing is, if you don’t already subscribe to the service, you should.
One of the most interesting things about the company is its ability to leverage its massive library to create multimedia fandangos that complement an artist’s music.
Drake
Drake is one of the most popular artists on Spotify. He has over 2 billion streams and has released more than 140 songs and music videos. His song “One Dance” was the most streamed song on Spotify.
In addition to his success on streaming platforms, Drake has also become a top artist in the U.S. and Canada. This is because of his hits like “One Dance,” “Hotline Bling,” and “Girls Want Girls.”
Last year, Drake was a top three global artist on the Spotify charts. His album God’s Plan was a hit with the music community, as it reached the number one spot on iTunes. Additionally, he was one of the top artists on YouTube, with more than 139 million streams.
This year, Drake continued his streak of breaking records. His song “God’s Plan” racked up more than 1.67 billion streams. He also broke the streaming record for the most plays in a single day.
Throughout the year, Drake was the most streamed artist in the U.S., Canada, and globally. The Canadian rapper was followed by Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Juice WRLD.
According to Chart Data website, Drake is the first artist to reach 50 billion combined Spotify streams. His song “Shape of You” surpassed this mark on December 21, 2018. Another track, “One Dance,” has 1.4 billion YouTube views and became the most streamed track on Spotify in October 2016.
While Drake won’t be on the Top Songs or Top Albums list for 2021, he is still a top artist on all other charts. In addition, his song “Hotline Bling” won the second and third Grammys for best rap song in 2017.
Drake’s 2021 achievements can be partially attributed to his September release Certified Loverboy. His song “Girls Want Girls” features Lil Baby, and it is a contender for a Grammy.
Major Lazar
The most streamed song on Spotify, at least according to the statistics, is Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s ‘Lean On’. It has been listened to by 526 million people worldwide. Its sexy music video has racked up 767 million views. Considering this, it’s no surprise that this song has topped the charts on Spotify.
There’s another big song on the list, “Where Are U Now”, which has seen its fair share of listeners, but isn’t nearly as popular as the “Lean On” on Spotify. That’s not to say the Major Lazer and DJ Snake track isn’t impressive. After all, it was named the ‘Spotify’s hottest summer song’ by the company.
Interestingly, it took the company three months to name the top track, compared to just four days for its new rival, Justin Bieber’s “Cold Water.” Nevertheless, ‘Lean On’ remains the most streamed track on the platform, with over 540 million listens. This number is on the rise and it’s likely to continue.
Major Lazer and DJ Snake’s “Lean On” has also managed to get a spot on the most important music charts in the world, including the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Charts Company’s singles chart. It even beat out the likes of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again’ on the global scale.
It’s no wonder the ‘Lean On’ has been deemed the most streamed track on the planet. In fact, it’s the most streamed track in the music industry! And we’ll have to wait for the next update to see whether it’s still the record holder. We hope so! Until then, check out this list of the biggest songs on Spotify.
DJ Snake
DJ Snake became the fifth artist to reach the billion stream milestone on Spotify. His latest hit, “Taki Taki”, featuring Cardi B and Ozuna, surpassed the one billion mark. In addition, he’s set to perform at the MDLBEAST SOUNDSTORM.
As a producer, Snake has crafted music for many notable artists including Justin Bieber, Drake, Malaa, Jeremih, and more. He has produced three songs on Lady Gaga’s Artpop album.
During the summer of 2014, he was supporting Skrillex on his Mothership tour. He also performed at Coachella in 2015. At the end of the year, Snake released his debut studio album, Encore, which was released on August 5.
In November, he released a remix of Dhee’s “Enjoy Enjaami”, which garnered over 25 million streams on Spotify. The track was originally part of A.R. Rahman’s Maajja, which aims to promote independent South Asian artists. It’s been a global Tamil language hit, with over 20 million views on YouTube.
In the meantime, he’s been collaborating with fellow French-Algerian DJ Malaa. Together they’ve released an EP called Bird Machine, which was the first viral hit. Since then, he’s released a number of collaborations, ranging from his own tracks to remixes of Kanye West’s “New Slaves” and Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.”
While his career is still young, DJ Snake has already made a name for himself. He was listed as one of the ‘Artist to Watch’ by FoxWeekly in April 2014. His first song to reach the one billion stream mark was ‘Lean On’, which featured MO and Lil Jon.
In January, DJ Snake was named one of Forbes’ ’30 Under 30 In Music’. His new hit, “Taki Taki”, is currently the third most popular on the platform.
Receiptify
The new app Receiptify for Spotify is designed to create instant Spotify receipts. Instead of the typical receipts, which are printed on paper and are wrinkled, you get an image on the screen.
In addition, the application generates a pie chart based on the genre of the tracks you’ve played. It also features a ‘thank you’ message at the end.
The app is free to use. However, you do have to sign up for a Spotify account before you can start using it. Fortunately, you can also connect your Apple Music account to Receiptify.
The site uses the official Spotify API to pull your data. Using this information, the application generates a nice-looking receipt. You can then share it on social media. As with any other image, you can also download it to your device’s photo library.
Receptify is one of several third-party applications that work with Spotify. The site is an Instagram-inspired receipt-generating application, and is similar to the popular @albumreceipts account.
Another notable feature of Receiptify is its ability to share top songs of any period. Specifically, you can share the best-played songs of the last six months. This is a great feature if you’re looking for a way to send a music-themed birthday card to a friend or loved one.
While you’re at it, you may also want to check out your Zodiac Affinity. Unlike other apps that only show you your zodiac sign, this one matches you with artists whose music you like.
If you’re still not convinced, you should try out Receiptify’s six-month option. It’s a fun and educational way to look back at your music listening habits.
All in all, Receiptify is a great way to display your music collection, and it’s worth checking out if you’re looking for an alternative to the slew of other music receipts out there.
