Rules
There are a number of different rules to the game of Yahtzee. The main purpose of playing the game is to score the most points possible with the five dice. Players take turns throwing the dice and scoring their results. Each player keeps a score card. The highest score wins the game. The average game can take up to thirty minutes. If there are a large number of people, it may be a good idea to break the group into teams.
The first roll of the game is made with all five dice. The player can choose to keep any dice or re-roll to get a better combination. Once the player is satisfied with his roll, he can enter his score into the box on his scorecard. There are three types of scoring options, and the goal is to earn the most points. The most valuable of the scoring options is the Yahtzee. A Yahtzee is a 50-point combination. A Yahtzee can also be scored as a full house, which is worth 25 points. This is a common occurrence.
When a Yahtzee is rolled, the player is given a choice to either pick up all the dice or to re-roll them. If a player re-rolls all five dice, he is able to earn the highest score. However, if a player re-rolls only two of the five dice, he is unable to score. If a player is not satisfied with his re-roll, he can stop rolling to score.
The first and second Yahtzees are each worth fifty points. The third Yahtzee is worth one hundred points. This is an important advantage, especially if there are players in the upper section. The fourth and fifth Yahtzees are also worth a hundred points. It is also possible to score a bonus if you roll at least 63 points. The game ends once all the players have finished. The winner of the Yahtzee is the player who has the highest total.
The official Yahtzee game rules have been largely unchanged since they were first published in 1956. The game is available in a variety of iterations, some of which are available in printable PDF formats.
Scoring categories
If you want to get the most out of the Yahtzee game, you will need to know the scoring categories. Each of these categories will have different amounts of points to be gained. The bigger the difference between the min and the max, the higher the score. This is the same for lower scores. If you don’t meet the criteria, the category will be scored with zero points.
The first category is the First Yahtzee. It is scored when you throw a five of a kind. The total is 50 points. This category is not to be confused with the full house. The full house is when you roll a 3 of a kind and a 2 of a kind. This also scores the total face of the die.
The second category is the Small Straight. This is when you roll a three of a kind and a two of a kind. This will score the total of the die faces. The Small Straight also has a bonus. If you score a full house, you will earn 25 points. The Small Straight isn’t as big as the other categories, but it still has a significant value. This category is worth 30 points.
The third category is the Chance. This is the catch-all category. It will add up all of the dice faces. It’s the same as the first category, but there are a few differences. The Chance category will not record the number of pips rolled, but it will add up the total of all of the dice. This is a useful tool, but it doesn’t have as much value as the First Yahtzee. The chance category will score 9, but it isn’t the same as the other two categories. The chances of a person getting this are relatively small, but it can be a valuable strategy.
The last category is the Joker. It isn’t as big a deal as the first, but it will give you a few extra points.
